Visualize Health Research 3.0: Visual Abstract Contest

With the goal of reaching a wider audience in the dissemination of health research results in social media platforms, the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology organized the Visualize Health Research 3.0: Visual Abstract Contest.

Launched during the Main Conference of the 42nd Anniversary celebration of the Council last 25 March 2024, the contest is open to all creative Filipinos residing in the Philippines except to PCHRD employees and their immediate family members, and PCHRD’s project team members. Joining the contest is FREE of charge.

Three individuals have an opportunity to win a cash prize amounting to P10,000, P6,000, and P3,000.

Mechanics

  1. The contestant must create a visual abstract on one (1) of the published research studies of the Council (2022-2023).
  2. The rs1458038 variant near FGF5 is associated with poor response to calcium channel blockers among Filipinos.

Submission of visual abstract poster entries will be via email (ricud-comm@pchrd.dost.gov.ph) with the following subject format: Visual Abstract_Last Name (ex. Visual Abstract_Dela Cruz). Deadline of submission of entries is on 31 May 2024.

Winners will be announced during the Philippine National Health Research System Week Celebration in August 2024. 

 

Visual Abstract Contest Piece

A visual abstract is a visual summary of the information contained within a research abstract. Similar to the actual text abstract of a research article, it is meant to communicate the key findings of the article in a shorter format. You may use this as reference in creating a visual abstract.

 

Visual abstract specifications

Dimension: 1080px X 1350px

Resolution: 300ppi

Orientation: Portrait

Must contain the title and author/s of the chosen research study, DOST PCHRD logo/branding.

Maximum file size of 5 MB in JPEG format.

 

Criteria for Judging

Clarity of message – 35%

Correctness and accuracy of translation – 35%

Relevant creativity and originality – 20%

Visual Impact – 10 %

  • Strictly one entry per participant only.
  • The contest piece submitted shall be created specifically for this Contest and has not been used commercially.
  • The participant warrants and represents that they own all rights to the Entry, their Entry is the original work of the participant, does not contain any third-party designs, does not infringe any third party’s rights, complies with all laws and regulations, and does not contain defamatory statements, or invade privacy, publicity or other rights of any third party. Entries containing prohibited or inappropriate content will be disqualified, as determined by the Council in its sole discretion.
  • After the contest, submitted visual abstract entries will become property of the Council.
  • A special prize will be given to the People’s Choice Award that will be conducted through PCHRD social media accounts.
