health purposes.
MAHLAP MOVING TOWARD DIGITAL LIBRARIES
MAHLAP shall continue to work
towards the enhancement of the professional welfare and skills of its members,
to uphold the dignity and ethics of the medical and health librarianship and to
enable them to cope better with today's digital technologies and the digital
library. It shall continue to support the continuing education program of
professional librarians by sponsoring quality, high level, relevant and
up-to-date seminars and workshops.
MAHLAP at present is doing a survey to identify the
information facilities and services of medical and health libraries in the Philippines
and to find out the readiness of health libraries to access digital
information. MAHLAP intends to come up with an appropriate system, processes
and training modules that will enable member libraries to convert their
exciting information resources into digital format, and making these accessible
on-line, through the Internet.
MAHLAP is now a full grown tree in ten years --
sharing its twigs and shady leaves, bearing flowers and fruits. The past ten
years indeed has been a very fruitful years for MAHLAP. |
