Philippine Heart Center

The Philippine Heart Center (PHC) became a partner of HERDIN in 2015. The Medical Library under the Research Division took the lead in this venture. We thought of our researches as a mine of information related to cardiovascular and related diseases, its treatment and prevention that would surely benefit not just our researchers but the community as well. We tried to find an entity that will host a database and serve as repository of our researches, at no cost. It was also with the vision of promoting PHC’s research outputs and making it “visible” to the world. The Philippine Council for Research and Health Development (PCHRD) via HERDIN thus paved the way.

Once given the privilege, our staff went full blast in the encoding and uploading of researches. Consequently, the Philippine Heart Center was given recognition as the Top 1 HERDIN Contributor for this initiative, while University of Visayas and Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology came 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. The award was given on August 25, 2017 during the 11th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week with the theme: Research and Innovations in Health: empowering and transforming communities.

HERDIN had become one of our research databases making it as a platform for online visibility. It also became an avenue for our Training Fellows and Residents to have their research outputs searchable and published online. As a result of our partnership, our institution’s HERDIN online research publications also enabled us to achieve our institutional breakthrough targets, paving the way for an OUTSTANDING RATING for our Division’s performance, responding to the Philippine Heart Center’s mission of providing comprehensive cardiovascular care enhanced by education and research that is accessible to all.

To date, a total of 569 research outputs have already been uploaded to HERDIN in various subspecialty fields (Adult and Pediatric Cardiology, Cardiovascular Anesthesia and Surgery, Allied Medical Specialties (Laboratory Medicine and Cardiovascular Radiology) and we are continually updating the database. Below is the HERDIN-Philippine Heart Center dashboard.
